- The National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) of Miami-Dade, a nonprofit organization, was founded in 2002 by National Board Certified Teachers interested in recognizing, supporting, and promoting Accomplished Teaching.
- The strategic goals of the NBCTs of Miami-Dade are to: advocate for the professionalization of teaching; develop teacher leaders; and engage Accomplished Teachers.
- NBCTs of Miami-Dade is an affiliated Network of the National Board Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).
- There are currently 1350 NBCTs in Miami-Dade County.
- NBCTs of Miami-Dade works closely with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the United Teachers of Dade. NBCT of Miami-Dade is committed to strengthening teacher quality in the support of student achievement.
- NBCTs of Miami-Dade has become a national model for organization, teacher networking, mentoring training, and providing support for novice teachers.
- NBCTs of Miami-Dade members support the district’s Mentoring and Induction of New Teachers Program (M.I.N.T.)
- This organization sponsored an annual conference, “Survive and Thrive,” for novice teachers every September from 2002-2007.
- NBCTs participate in the “New Teacher Orientation“ (NTO) and “New Educator Support Teams” (NEST) each year.
